BET's DJ Prostyle B-Day Bash Documentary

While living in Florida, myself and director Wuzgood teamed up again to shoot a documentary for BET’s DJ Prostyle from the show “106 and Park.” I really liked the collaboration on this project because I got to combine a documentary shooting style with a lot of Hip-Hop influence. The day started out by hopping in a stretch Bentley limo and going to the airport to pick up Daddy Yankee, good times. After we picked him up we went to the Power 95.3 radio station to shoot interviews all the artists that were performing at DJ Prostyle’s b-day bash. I have to say that Rick Ross is one of the cooler guys I have ever met, probably because he is baked out of his mind 24-7, but thats another story. The interviews were lit with 2 Mole Richardson kits, I think they each had 2x 650w Tweenies and a 650w Zip if I remember right. I’m pretty sure I used almost every light, damn HD. Anyway, after the interviews we headed to the “b-day bash” and prepped for the 4 camera shoot. On stage was Derek Soter shooting steadicam the whole night (Props to you Derek, my spine would have broken) and Brad Patterson shooting with the Century Optics Extreme Fisheye, THAT THING IS RETARTED and should be for the price. We had 1 camera covering a wide shot of the stage from the back and I was floating around the party grabbing little insert shots here and there. This night may possibly go down in history for the most I have ever sweated in 1 night. Running through crowds of crazy fans to get shots and then having to run upstairs to hand the p2 cards off to the p2 tech guy…wow. Overall, the shoot went very well, we got almost every shot that Wuzgood and I had planned for. The next day the footage was handed off to editor Marcus Small and After Effects Artist Corday Cardwell (www.LutionMedia.com) and they worked their magic on it. I think it turned out great and I am pretty sure Marcus and Corday are going to be the head editors for MTV sometime in the near future, if I could buy stock in people, the first 2 people would probably be those 2 guys.
